Justine Bateman profiles Lisa on her "Smarty Pants Women" Blog

One night my husband said to me from behind his laptop -- "hey, Justine Bateman is going back to school for her Comp Sci degree". I was in the middle of grueling CSS homework and I visited her regular blog to see what it was about. After reading more about her daily life as a student -- at 47 with two kids like me. I thought I'd just zip a quick camradery email congratulating her and saying I was a furthering my education too and how it kicks ya in the ass. Got an email right back, saying she was in the library studying and was great to see my email. I really wasn't expecting a reply. She invited me to submit an entry to her Smarty Pants Women blog -- read Justine's feature on me here.

FF:UX a better instagram

In my first installment of Fabulous Friday UX (named because the acronym just cracks me up), I want to give props to designers that take everyday  apps and make them better.  This beautiful video mockup from designer Stephen Levinson blew me away. It brings to light what limitations the app has, and how great it could be. Now if only instagram would take bit of notice, compensate Mr Levinson and make this available for its loyal users like me. Enjoy:

Author signing event

To celebrate Joy-Worthy's success on Amazon, I was honored to attend the Julie McGrath's book signing event this week. It flew off the tables. Here I am with Julie (left, with the infectious smile and  turquoise gum!). Only Julie would make turquoise gum look like a fashion accessory. Met some awesome women, many celebrating their life accomplishments. Book is still holding strong on Amazon, and getting radio press all throughout November!

Paintings by my 7yo daughter.

My little girl took up painting classes this summer in a tiny gallery overlooking a harbor -- I think this provides her a good space to clear her head and come up with these amazing paintings. No where did I ever come close to painting like this in my art school days. And I went to school starting out as a painting major. She comes home so jazzed and at least with two (yes) paintings, and makes me so inspired to do something creative. My biggest challenge is finding a wall to display them. I love each one.
